Modern Israel in ProphecyAugust 2013, by Norman Edwards |

The nation called Israel today is similar in many ways to the biblical kingdoms of Israel and Judah when they were under bad kings. They have a lot of secular goals. They give lip service to the Scripture, but they exploit the poor, lie in their dealings with others, have rampant sexual immorality, etc.. This is not to say that the U.S.A. is any better — it has the same problems. Many Jews want to build a third temple. Many Christians think they must build it in order for Christ to return . Many of both think the modern day nation of Israel's protection is assured because they are "God's people" in His land. Are they any more correct than the Jews in 586 BC or 70 AD who thought that they could not be defeated because they had the "temple of the Lord"? Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. Do not trust in these lying words, saying, 'The temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD are these.' For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor, if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your hurt, then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever (Jer 7:3-7). This writer believes that the heads of the Israeli government are responsible for a lot more evil than is commonly admitted in our press—which frequently paints them as a righteous nation in the midst of evil enemies. And there is little doubt that there enemies are evil at times. However, proving that the modern nation of Israel is at least equally responsible for the explosive situation is a long, difficult, pains-taking process and many people will still not believe it—unless it appears in mainstream media. Are these conspiracy theories? Probably so. But the Bible shows many leaders conspiring. Notice: Now while they were going, behold, some of the guard came into the city and reported to the chief priests all the things that had happened. When they had assembled with the elders and consulted together, they gave a large sum of money to the soldiers, saying, "Tell them, 'His disciples came at night and stole Him away while we slept.' And if this comes to the governor's ears, we will appease him and make you secure." So they took the money and did as they were instructed; and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day (Matt 28:11-15). This claim was widely believed in that day, and still believed by some Jews today. It was the "official government explanation" of what happened to the body of Yahshua of Nazareth. Yet it was based upon bribed witnesses who claimed they were asleep while they were witnessing the alleged event. If one thinks our governments today will not invent and perpetuate similar lies, one is trusting in man too much and not learning enough from the Scripture. As time permits, this author hopes to add much more biblical substance and proof to this website, but for now we will leave this general, but very accurate line of prophecy: But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived (2Tim 3:13). |
